River Road Half Marathon 2013

On the first Saturday in February, I was able to run a half marathon and COMPLETE it :-)  If you know about my DNF back in October...you will understand why this is good news!  It was an absolutely perfect day to run and a beautiful course. I didn't train specifically for this race but was able to set a PR of 1:50:27.  I even placed 3rd in my age/gender division. Although, I have to admit it was a SUPER small race...only about 100 runners. Still, I was thankful for an uneventful race. One of the reasons it was such a great race is that I had a "one-man race crew".  Sweet friends kept the girls for us and Paul was able to accompany me for the whole race.  Do ya think he was worried I'd end up in an ambulance again?! Maybe just a little bit. But seriously...he was WONDERFUL!  He rode back and forth over the race course on his bicycle and took my extra layers when I got hot, gave me my inhaler when I needed it, took pictures and encouraged me along the way.  I could get used to this! ;-)
