Paci FREE!?!

Natalie has been sleeping without her pacifier for a WHOLE WEEK!  I never thought this day would come.  Honestly, she didn't give it up willingly.  We tried bribery with a special toy. It didn't work. We tried the whole "don't you want to be a big girl?  Big girls don't use pacis..." route.  That didn't work either.  So last weekend, I cut the tip off of her pacifier. Not in her presence, of course!  I just brought it to her at bedtime as usual -- but with a missing tip.  She popped it into her mouth and began crying...saying..."my paci is broken" in the most pitiful way.  So she asked for her light pink paci (the back up one).  I went to get it and secretly cut the tip off of this one also.  She was heartbroken about the mysteriously broken pacifiers.  That night it was rough for her to fall asleep.  We had crying for at least an hour.  The next night was also really, really tough. But better.  I think three nights this week she has woken up at about 3am crying for it.  That was rough, too. BUT for the last 3 nights she has slept through the night!  AND gone to bed peacefully without it.  I'm afraid to sing it from the mountaintops but I think we might be done with the pacifier!  YIPPPEEEEEE!
