I got to run a half marathon yesterday! It was wonderful for many reasons....one reason is that I got to run with two of my best friends. Kim and Mary are in my Interface Bible study...they have become such precious friends and I feel blessed to know them. I LOVE that they LOVE to run too! Kim and I did our long runs together early every Saturday morning for the last 7 weeks and she really pushed me to run faster. As a result, I had my best time in a half marathon...ever! This was my 4th half marathon but I've never finished under 2 hours before. Yesterday my time was 1:51:37. Waahooo! It was a really chilly morning...in the low 40s when we started...but honestly, a perfect day for running. And any runner knows that chilly weather is good! It helps you fun faster ;) We took our time after the race and went out for coffee afterwards...such sweet fellowship with these amazing women. I also loved that the proceeds of the race went toward helping families adopt! They didn't give us medals as we crossed the finish line...instead we received a bracelet made by orphans in Haiti. They had paid orphans to make the bracelets for us as a way of supporting the orphans. It was a beautiful run...a little hilly (gotta love Texas Hill Country!)...but really beautiful too...especially as we ran along the river. I can't wait to run another race!
