The BIRTHDAY Girl!!!
Last weekend I got a chance to fly to North Carolina for my little sister's SURPRISE 30th birthday party! Paul sweetly agreed to be SUPER DAD for the weekend and allow me to escape kid-free for the festivities. It was hard to keep the trip a secret from my sister...but TOTALLY worth it! It was fun to celebrate 30 years of Laura's life. I am truly blessed to have such an incredible sister! It was also great to see my parents and Pa & Grandma Esther too! They all traveled down from Pennsylvania for the party.
30 candles to blow out...
Mom brought Laura's FAVORITE cake from a bakery in Pennsylvania.
Yummy!
Laura's BFF took her out for a birthday pedicure before delivering her to the surprise party

It was a whirlwind 48 hours....one of the highlights was sitting on the airplane and closing my eyes to SLEEP and then opening them to READ a book! Now that I have young children those are two things that I NEVER do on flights anymore. It was very relaxing :) I enjoyed meeting lots of Laura's friends. Its funny. I've never been told SO MANY TIMES how much we look alike. I met 30 people or so over the weekend and the first thing out of their mouths before we were introduced was "you MUST be Laura's sister" Ha! Maybe I'm not adopted after all... Another highlight of my trip was doing Mad Libs together as a family after church. Have you ever done them? My brother gave Laura a huge book of them as a birthday gift because it is something we used to do together as kids on camping trips...they are a BLAST!
Do you think we look like sisters?
Relaxing at home....time for Mad Libs!
I also begged my sister to take me to "Mega Thrift". Laura loves to shop and always has the cutest clothes....but in learning to shop on a budget she has discovered Mega Thrift! Seriously, she always looks great and if you ask her where she got her outfit...I can almost guarantee that she found at least part of it at Mega Thrift. It was a very special weekend, not one to be forgotten. Brad, you win the "husband of the year" award for planning a GREAT party for Laura! Thanks for allowing me to be a part of it.
I found a great pair of shoes ;)
